Sefaria, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building the future of Torah in an open and participatory way, is in search of a full-time Senior Software Engineer. The Senior Software Engineer must be based in Israel and will report directly to the Director of Engineering. This is a fully remote position.
Our core engineering team is responsible for developing and maintaining Sefaria’s backend, API, website, structured data, research, cloud operations, and mobile apps. Over the last decade the team has transformed the world of Torah learning with commitments to excellence in design, user experience, engineering, open data, and collaboration.
We seek a leader with a proven history of contributing to complex software projects. Prior experience in overseeing engineering projects and teams is essential, as well as fluency in both Hebrew and English.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play an active role in the development of our engineering department and be involved in planning and developing the next generations of Torah software. You are expected to have solid engineering, project management, and leadership skills.
We are a dynamic team committed to continuous growth, exploring cutting-edge technologies in both the realms of data science and full-stack development. This role primarily involves engaging with full-stack development. Our technology stack is centered around Python, Django, and Celery for server-side operations, React for the client-side, and React Native for mobile development. We use MongoDB and Postgres databases. Our infrastructure is supported by Kubernetes, and proficiency in these technologies, along with expertise in Git for code management and a solid understanding of SCRUM will be highly beneficial.
