Temporary, Part-Time Marketing Associate

Part-Time in New York, NY - Remote OK - Associate

Sefaria, a non-profit organization dedicated to building the future of Torah in an open and participatory way, seeks a part-time Marketing Associate for a temporary, four-month engagement to support our US-based team (parental leave coverage). The expected schedule for this part-time role is 20-30 hours per week; we are open to either employee or contractor status.

Position Overview

The Marketing Associate provides key support for the Marketing and Communications team’s day-to-day operations and major projects and initiatives. They also support our mission to make Jewish texts accessible and engaging for a diverse and growing audience.

The ideal candidate is equal-parts organized, detail-oriented, and creative. We’re looking for a highly motivated team member who brings a methodical and structured approach to supporting a busy, distributed team with day-to-day activities and project completion. The Marketing Associate will also facilitate communication between contractors and the Marketing and Communications team regarding project status and needs.. The Marketing Associate must be proficient in using technology and able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

The Marketing Associate will report directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications and will support the Marketing and Communications team in their work.

In this position, you will:

  • Support email campaigns by setting up content in our email marketing platform (occasionally using basic HTML), sending tests, testing links, and scheduling emails in coordination with our editorial calendar.
  • Support the virtual Sefaria store through monitoring, vendor communications, and customer service.
  • Create original and template-based graphics for social media using Canva.
  • Organize and submit all team invoices and receipts to the accounting department; track department budget.
  • Support content organization and cleanup in Google Drive and Trello.
  • Monitor, format, and organize press clips.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Marketing & Communications Department and complete other tasks as needed.

Experience, qualifications, and requirements:

Unless otherwise noted, the experience and qualifications listed below are required.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field
  • A combination of relevant work experience and education to successfully perform the responsibilities outlined in this description
  • At least two years of experience in marketing, communications, or project management
  • Experience using email marketing platforms (Sefaria uses Active Campaign)
  • Proficiency in using Canva
  • Ability to use knowledge of typography, color, and layout to create visually appealing designs (content and graphics) that clearly communicate messages and other information
  • HTML knowledge is preferred, but not required
  • Experience using project management software such as Trello is preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in working with the technology in an online work environment including GSuite, Slack, Zoom, Trello (training will be provided, as needed)

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this position, which is a 20-30 hours per week role, is $26,000 - $42,000, depending on experience and final weekly schedule. The rate for a contractor role is $30-$32 per hour.
  • Sefaria offers a range of benefits for employees, including comprehensive medical insurance options, dental insurance, generous paid time off including federal and Jewish holidays, disability insurance, and a work-from-home utility reimbursement. Eligibility and pro-rated employer contributions will be determined on the Marketing Associate’s final weekly schedule. Contractors are not eligible for benefits.

Location:

The Marketing Associate must be eligible to work in the US and can be based anywhere in the continental US, provided they can be available for full staff and other team meetings that take place during standard ET work hours. Sefaria has staff in Asheville, Boston, Louisville, New York, Richmond, and Washington, DC.
